About Philip Lisagor...
Philip Lisagor, a long time resident of Squaw Valley and Verdi, Nevada, is a thoracic surgeon currently serving as Chief of Surgery at the Reno Veterans Administration. He has served 24 years in the US Army and has deployed to Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and twice to Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was Chief of Surgery at the Jersey City Medical Center on September 11, 2001, which was the second busiest hospital on that tragic day.

About Great Books and the Global War on Terror...Dr. Lisagor will lead a discussion of some important themes from the great books, from the Bible, through the Greek historians, to modern writers of warfare. Topics will come from Herodotus and Thucydides, Clausevitz, Keegan, Victor Davis Hansen and T.E. Lawrence and The New Army Marine Corps Field Manual of Counterinsurgency Warfare. Sources of the current situation and possible remedies will be discussed.
